Chilli Bread Recipe

Chilli Bread is a spicy, savory snack made with crispy bread and a flavorful Indo-Chinese sauce. It’s a perfect appetizer or quick meal for spice lovers.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread (white or brown)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1-inch ginger, chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • ½ capsicum, chopped
  • 1 tsp chilli sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp coriander, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cut the bread into pieces and toast with 1 tbsp butter until crispy.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp butter and 2 tsp oil in a pan. Add chopped green chillies, garlic, and ginger, and sauté until fragrant.
  3. Add the chopped onions and sauté until softened. Then, add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
  4. Stir in ½ tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp chilli powder, cooking for a minute.
  5. Add the chopped capsicum and stir-fry until it’s crunchy.
  6. Pour in 1 tsp chilli sauce, 2 tbsp tomato sauce, 1 tbsp vinegar, and 1 tbsp soy sauce. Stir and cook until the sauce combines well.
  7. Season with ½ tsp salt and mix the sauce with the toasted bread pieces. Stir gently to coat.
  8. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.

Notes

  • To keep the bread crispy, serve immediately after mixing it with the sauce.
  • Adjust the spice level by using more or less green chillies and chilli powder.
  • You can substitute the bread with thicker slices like toasted sandwich bread for better texture.
