Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup white sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

  • 1/2 cup crushed pretzels

  • 1/2 cup caramel bits or toffee pieces

  • 1/2 cup holiday M&Ms

  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

  • 1/4 cup shredded coconut or dried cranberries (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips, oats, pretzels, caramel bits, M&Ms, and any optional add-ins gently.
  7. Cover dough and chill for 30 minutes to prevent spreading.
  8. Scoop dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each.
  9. Bake for 12 minutes or until edges are golden brown and centers are just set.
  10. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
