Creamy Garlic Pasta in One Pot

Creamy Garlic Pasta

This creamy garlic pasta is a rich, comforting dish made in just one pot and ready in 20 minutes. With bold garlic flavor, a velvety sauce, and pantry staples, it’s the perfect go-to for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz pasta (spaghetti, penne, or linguine)
  • 1 tbsp butter or olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup water
  • ¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese or sour cream (optional)
  • Fresh parsley or basil, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt butter or heat olive oil in a large skillet or deep pot over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, stirring constantly.
  3. Add dry pasta, milk, and enough water to cover the noodles. Stir to combine and bring to a gentle boil.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is al dente and liquid has reduced to a creamy sauce.
  5. Stir in Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  6. If using, add cream cheese or sour cream and stir until fully melted and combined.
  7. Remove from heat, garnish with chopped parsley or basil, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use preheated milk or hot water to reduce cooking time.
  • Thin pasta like angel hair or linguine cooks faster.
  • Add red pepper flakes or Cajun seasoning for a spicier version.
  • Can be customized with chicken, shrimp, or vegetables like spinach or mushrooms.
  • Reheat with a splash of milk to restore creaminess.
