Grinch Popcorn Magic

Grinch Popcorn

Grinch Popcorn is a festive sweet-and-salty snack made with popcorn coated in green marshmallow glaze and topped with red candy hearts. It’s a colorful, fun treat perfect for holiday movie nights, parties, or edible gifting.

Ingredients

  • 10 cups plain popped popcorn

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (or vegan butter)

  • 3 cups mini marshmallows

  • 3–4 drops green gel food coloring (or 8–10 drops liquid food coloring)

  • Red candy hearts (or red M&Ms, red sprinkles, or chopped red jelly beans)

  • Festive sprinkles (optional)

  • Pinch of flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Pop 1/3 cup popcorn kernels (or use plain microwave popcorn) and transfer 10 cups of popped popcorn to a large bowl. Remove any unpopped kernels.
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt 3 tablespoons butter. Add 3 cups mini marshmallows and stir constantly until fully melted and smooth, about 3–4 minutes.
  3. Remove saucepan from heat and add green food coloring. Stir until evenly colored.
  4. Pour the green marshmallow glaze over the popcorn and gently fold using a greased heatproof spatula until the popcorn is evenly coated.
  5. While the mixture is still sticky, sprinkle with red candy hearts, optional sprinkles, and a pinch of flaky sea salt.
  6. Let the popcorn set at room temperature for 15 minutes before breaking into clusters or serving.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for a more vibrant color without thinning the glaze.
  • To make vegan, use plant-based butter and vegan marshmallows and candies.
  • Work quickly while mixing to ensure even coating before the glaze sets.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Package in jars or treat bags for gifting.
