Jalapeno Popper Mummies are a festive Halloween appetizer made by stuffing halved jalapeños with a creamy cheese filling and wrapping them in crescent dough to resemble spooky mummies. They’re cheesy, slightly spicy, and fun for both kids and adults.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 8 oz Monterey jack cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 10 jalapeños, sliced in half lengthwise, seeds and ribs removed
  • 12 oz Pillsbury crescent rolls
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten with 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
  • 40 small candy eyeballs or sliced black olives

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking tray with foil and lightly spray with olive oil cooking spray.
  2. Slice jalapeños lengthwise and remove seeds and ribs for a milder flavor.
  3. In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Spoon the cheese mixture into each jalapeño half.
  5. Unroll the crescent rolls and press together the seams to create 4 rectangles. Cut each rectangle into 10 thin strips.
  6. Wrap 2 dough strips around each stuffed jalapeño to resemble mummy bandages, leaving space for the eyes.
  7. Arrange the wrapped jalapeños on the prepared baking tray. Brush the dough with egg wash.
  8. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Remove from oven and immediately press two candy eyes or olive slices into each mummy.
  10. Cool slightly and serve warm.

Notes

  • Remove all seeds and ribs from jalapeños for a milder flavor.
  • Use sliced black olives instead of candy eyes for a savory option.
  • Make ahead: Assemble the mummies and refrigerate, then bake before serving.
  • Air fryer option: Cook at 375°F for about 10 minutes.
  • Substitute cheeses like cheddar or Colby Jack for different flavors.
