Red Velvet Blossoms Cookies

These Red Velvet Blossoms Cookies are soft, rich in cocoa and vanilla flavor, and topped with a delightful Hershey’s Kiss. Perfect for holiday gatherings or as a festive homemade gift, they combine the charm of red velvet with a classic cookie twist.

Ingredients

  • 7 tbsp butter, softened (salted or unsalted)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/4 tsp red gel food coloring
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup red sanding sugar
  • 18 Hershey’s Kisses

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixer, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Add in the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring. Mix until combined.
  4. Add the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix just until the flour disappears.
  5. Using a tablespoon, scoop out 18 equally sized cookie dough balls and roll them in your palms to shape.
  6. Roll each dough ball in red sanding sugar until coated.
  7. Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and immediately press a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

  • You can use white chocolate or flavored Kisses for variation.
  • Substitute red sanding sugar with coarse granulated sugar if needed.
  • Cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
