Salted Peppermint Bark is a festive holiday candy made with layers of rich chocolate, creamy white chocolate, and refreshing crushed peppermint. Finished with a sprinkle of sea salt, it offers the perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors. This easy, no-bake treat is ideal for gifting or serving during the Christmas season.

Ingredients

  • 24 ounces light cocoa candy melts (or substitute chocolate chips)
  • 20 ounces white almond bark (or white chocolate chips or melting wafers)
  • 1 teaspoon oil-based peppermint extract
  • 3 ounces crushed peppermint or crushed candy canes
  • 1½ teaspoons sea salt flakes

Instructions

  1. Line a cookie sheet with parchment or wax paper.
  2. In a double boiler or microwave, melt the light cocoa candy melts or chocolate chips, stirring continuously until smooth.
  3. Pour the melted chocolate onto the prepared cookie sheet and spread evenly into a thin layer.
  4. Allow the chocolate layer to partially set at room temperature for a few minutes.
  5. In a separate bowl, melt the white almond bark or white chocolate using the same method, stirring until smooth.
  6. Add the peppermint extract to the melted white chocolate and stir well.
  7. Spread the white chocolate mixture evenly over the semi-set chocolate base.
  8. Sprinkle crushed peppermint and sea salt flakes over the top.
  9. Allow the bark to set completely at room temperature for at least 30 minutes or until firm.
  10. Once set, cut or break into pieces and enjoy.

Notes

  • Pour the white chocolate layer when the dark chocolate is only partially set to prevent separation.
  • Use oil-based peppermint extract to avoid seizing the chocolate.
  • Sea salt flakes provide better texture and visual appeal than fine salt.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three weeks.
