Valentine’s Day Brownies

Valentine’s Day is a time to indulge in sweet treats, and these Valentine’s Day Brownies are the perfect way to show your love. Dense and fudgy, with a sprinkle of festive red and pink candies, these brownies are as delicious as they are charming. Whether you’re sharing with a loved one or treating yourself, they’re sure to be a standout.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1/2 cup red and pink M&M’s

  •

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Prepare your baking pan by lining it with foil or parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal. Lightly coat with cooking spray if using foil.
  2. Combine the wet ingredients by whisking the melted butter and sugar in a large bowl until smooth and glossy.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract, ensuring everything is well mixed.
  4. Mix your dry ingredients by combining the flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Incorporate the dry into the wet ingredients gradually, stirring gently until the mixture is just combined. Avoid over-mixing to keep the brownies tender.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips evenly using a spatula, ensuring even distribution throughout the batter.
  7. Transfer the batter to your prepared pan, smoothing it evenly. Sprinkle the M&M’s across the top to add a burst of festive color.
  8. Bake the brownies for 25 to 30 minutes, until the edges start to pull away from the sides, and the center is set.
  9. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before lifting them out with the foil overhang and slicing into squares.

Notes

  • Avoid over-baking: Keep a close eye on the brownies during the last few minutes. They should be set but not dry; a toothpick inserted should come out mostly clean.
  • Mix gently: Vigorous mixing can lead to tough brownies, so be gentle when combining ingredients.
  • Balanced cooling: Allowing the brownies to cool fully helps them set, making them easier to cut.
  • Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. For longer storage, you can freeze them for up to two months.
