- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the egg noodles according to the package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Drain the excess fat.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and creamy.
- Add the cooked noodles and 1½ cups of cheddar cheese. Stir gently until evenly coated.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread evenly and top with the remaining ½ cup of cheddar cheese.
- Bake uncovered at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes, until hot and bubbly.
- Sprinkle the French-fried onions evenly over the top. Bake for an additional 7 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown.
- Let the casserole cool slightly. Garnish with parsley or chives and serve warm.
