- Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and baking soda.
- Add the cold butter cubes and cut them into the flour using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the texture is crumbly and sandy.
- Pour in the buttermilk and vanilla, then stir until the dough begins to clump together. Use your hands to gently press it into a soft dough.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips by hand, mixing just enough to spread them evenly through the dough.
- Place the dough on the prepared baking sheet and shape it into a round 8-inch disc.
- Cut the disc into 8 equal triangles and separate them slightly on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
