- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
- In a large bowl, combine the German chocolate cake mix, milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips and milk chocolate chips evenly over the batter.
- In a bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, coconut, pecans, brown sugar, and cinnamon, if using. Mix well.
- Carefully spoon the coconut and pecan mixture evenly over the cake batter. Do not stir.
- Place the thin slices of butter evenly across the top.
- Bake for 50 minutes, or until the cake is set around the edges and the center is slightly gooey. The coconut should be lightly golden.
- Allow the cake to cool for 20 minutes.
- Spoon warm servings into dessert bowls. Top with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, extra toasted pecans, and toasted coconut. Enjoy while warm.
